Amir Hossein Marvasti, MD is a cataract, cornea, and refractive surgeon in Southern California. He was born in El Paso, Texas, grew up in Tehran, Iran, before he moved to Southern California to pursue his passion in the medicine. He completed his Bachelors in Science at the University of California, Los Angeles and went to Boston University to obtain his medical degree. He then moved back to California to complete his residency in Ophthalmology at the University of California, San Diego Shiley Eye Institute, where he also served as the chief resident in his final year. He is currently a Cornea and Refractive surgery fellow at the prestigious UCLA Jules Stein Eye Institute.
Dr. Marvasti’s practice philosophy revolves around the concept of personalized medicine. He believes the first step in therapy is understanding his patients’ needs. This should be followed by patient education on the very many options in enhancing and/or restoring vision. Only then a truly customized plan can be produced tailored to the specific needs and lifestyle of a specific patient.
