Thomas Harvey, MD, is an eye surgery specialist. He is a Board Certified surgeon with expertise in Cornea Surgery, Cataract Surgery, and Vision Correction Surgery (including LASIK). After medical school and residency, Dr. Harvey completed an elite specialty fellowship at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas. In 2005, he returned to Wisconsin and quickly became the region’s most prolific anterior segment surgeon.
On October 1, 2020, Dr. Harvey opened up his own eye surgery practice to provide more convenient options for patients by working directly with local eye doctors. He has a long track record of excellent results working with referring optometrists and general ophthalmologists in the surrounding communities.

Thus was born Independent Vision Group.
Independent Vision Group, Dr. Harvey’s new practice, travels to multiple offices to evaluate patients for surgery closer to home, and to continue post-operative care with their local eye doctors. In order to ensure state-of-the-art patient care, Dr. Harvey uses the latest techniques and technology available anywhere on Earth. His specialty is offering patients custom surgical solutions for the best vision for life.
In 2010, Dr. Harvey opened an ophthalmology-only surgical facility, Independent Surgery Center, in Lake Hallie, Wisconsin. This convenient ambulatory surgery center has all of the state-of-the-art equipment needed for specialty eye care and enables local patients to undergo eye surgery without needing to enter a hospital. Today, Dr. Harvey operates on approximately one out of every three cataracts in the Chippewa Valley area.
Dr. Harvey has also been a multi-year winner of the Castle Connolly Top Doctors Award and continues to develop his skills and enhance both his own practice and the world of ophthalmology. He is currently involved in several research projects, one involving an advanced implant lens that is under review by the FDA.
Dr. Harvey shares his knowledge as a speaker and instructor at the AAO and ASCRS annual meetings, in addition to sponsoring and instructing surgeons from overseas. He is an officer on the Outpatient Ophthalmic Surgery Society National Board and a founding member of the Vanguard Ophthalmology Society.
