Elif Ceren Yeşilkaya, MD is an ophthalmologist and academic staff who is specialized in cornea, anterior segment, cataract, and refractive surgery at Sisli Hamidiye Etfal Training and Research Hospital, a tertiary referral center that provides healthcare for complicated cases in Istanbul. She completed her residency at Beyoglu Eye Training and Research Hospital, one of the best institutes in the country. She was certified by the European Board of Ophthalmology in 2018 in Paris, France, and the International Council of Ophthalmology in 2019. After working on SMILE as her research thesis, she continued her career with an interest in refractive surgery.
Throughout her medical training, she has always wanted to strengthen her practice. Working in a clinic dealing with difficult cases has increased her motivation to fulfill this desire. Dr. Yeşilkaya also has a strong interest in ophthalmic education and enjoys teaching residents, alongside her clinical duties. She actively performs cataract surgery, keratoconus treatment, and corneal transplantation. She also continues to work with Dr. Aylin Kılıç to improve her practice in advanced refractive surgery techniques such as allograft corneal inlays.
She is a fellow of the European Board of Ophthalmology and the International Council of Ophthalmology. She is a member of the Turkish Ophthalmological Society, the Turkish Ophthalmological Society’s young ophthalmologist committee, and the European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery.
In her spare time, she enjoys with sports, music, traveling, and spending time with friends and family. She especially likes sports activities such as skiing, running, and swimming.
