Barrett Eubanks, MD, MBA, DABO is a board-certified Ophthalmologist with advanced specialization in using state-of-the-art technology to correct vision. His interests include astigmatism correction, laser treatment of nearsightedness and farsightedness, and cataract surgery. He has performed over 8,000 procedures and spends countless hours researching ways to improve the correction of these conditions. Dr. Eubanks can be found at Herzig Eye Institute performing the most advanced form of laser vision correction surgery as well as precision cataract surgery with the latest lens technology. As a LASIK patient himself, he is excited about sharing life-changing vision correction procedures with others.
Dr. Eubanks’ journey to become an ophthalmologist began in Florida where he was born and raised. He was a technophile from a young age – dabbling into computer programming in his spare time and excelling in science and technology. He went on to study at the prestigious Cornell University, where he first became interested in medicine. The thought of applying the latest technological advancements to improve the health of others resounded strongly with Dr. Eubanks. He attended medical school at the University of Florida where he became fascinated with the intricacy of the eyes and correcting vision. During ophthalmology residency at the renowned Ocher Clinic Foundation and Louisiana State University, Dr. Eubanks discovered he had a rare talent for performing delicate eye surgery (probably due to all the video games he played as a child). Therefore, after finishing his residency, Dr. Eubanks completed even more specialized surgical training during his fellowship to hone his skills and fulfill his dream of performing vision correction surgery.
Outside of the clinic, Dr. Eubanks enjoys an active lifestyle of running marathons and swimming, which constantly remind him about the benefits of exceptional vision without glasses and contacts. He enjoys rooting for Florida Gators college football and Tampa Bay Lightning hockey to connect and remind him of his memories in medical school (in between studying of course!) and the quality time spent with his family growing up. Even in his spare time, he has an insatiable thirst for knowledge and self-development – he continues to tinker and build computers like he has since childhood, is working on improving his French and Spanish languages, and obtained an MBA. This balanced life allows Dr. Eubanks to excel in vision correction and provide optimal care and results for his patients.
