Dr Jocelyn Wu Shin Yin, MD(UKM), MS Ophthalmology (UM), AM(Mal), Pg Dip Cataract & Refractive Surgery (United Kingdom), is a Consultant Ophthalmologist & Eye Surgeon, specializing in ophthalmic cataract and refractive surgery.
Dr Jocelyn Wu Shin Yin graduated from the National University of Malaysia (UKM) with Doctor of Medicine Degree. She had excellent academic achievements and received several awards during her undergraduate days. She had great passion in Medicine and was part of the International Board of Asian Medical Students’ Association (AMSA) and is currently part of the AMSA Alumni. She presented a paper presentation in 20th East-Asian Medical Conference 2007 in Taiwan and won first runner-up.
She obtained her Basic Sciences in Ophthalmology then further her postgraduate education in University Malaya and graduated with Master Surgery in Ophthalmology (UM) Universiti Malaya. She is certified by the College Of Ophthalmology Malaysia and a member of the Acedemy of Medicine Malaysia. Dr Jocelyn Wu was admitted as a fellow of the Royal College of Ophthalmologist, Malaysia. Dr. Wu completed her fellowship in Cataract and Refractive Surgery. Her mentor, Professor Dan Reinstein at London Vision Clinic, UK, aspires her to be an excellent ophthalmologist.
Dr Wu Shin Yin is certified by the College Of Ophthalmology and is acknowledged as a full-fledged Ophthalmologist by the Ministry of Health and holds full registration as a specialist under the National Specialist Registry of Malaysia.
Dr Jocelyn Wu had experiences working in various hospitals including University Malaya Medical Centre, Hospital Tengku Ampuan Rahimah (Klang), Hospital Selayang, Hospital Shah Alam, Pusat Pembedahan Katarak MAIWP, Hospital Tengku Ampuan Najihah (Kuala Pilah), Hospital Melaka, Asia Eye Specialist Centre, Hospital Tanjung Karang (visiting specialist), Hospital Sabak Bernam (visiting specialist) and Hospital Jempol.
As an advocate of visual rehabilitation, Dr Wu had became a speaker of various Eye Care Course to educate doctors and paramedics to provide better eye care to the community. Dr Wu Shin Yin had also presented various paper and poster presentation at local and international conferences. She won Best Poster award at the 28th APACRS (Asia Pacific Association of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons International Conference).
Patients find Dr Jocelyn to be a caring and understanding doctor who provides skillful and comprehensive eye care including outpatient and inpatient ophthalmic care, eye screening, eye check-ups, cataract surgeries, pterygium excision surgeries, dry eye treatments, myopia and refractive errors management, laser therapy in diabetic retinopathy, laser treatments and other eye surgeries.
During her free time, Dr Jocelyn Wu enjoys playing the piano. She completed her Grade 8 ABRSM piano and often plays during events. She is a mother of 3 children and enjoys volunteering for eye screening programs, health talks and cataract carnivals. During her early days in King George V School, she was the Chief Editor of The Georgians Book.
