Christopher Layton, MBBS (Hons), D.Phil (Oxford), FRANZCO is a refractive cataract surgeon and clinical ophthalmologist based in Brisbane, Australia.
Professor Layton completed optometry training at the Queensland University of Technology, ophthalmology in Queensland, Oxford, and London, subspecialty training at the Royal Brisbane Hospital, and holds a PhD from the Nuffield Laboratory of Ophthalmology at Oxford University. Professor Layton is a Rhodes Scholar and founding director of the LVF Ophthalmology Research Centre. He is also CEO of Ocugene, a Queensland-based biotech start-up that is commercializing his eye gene therapy discoveries. Professor Layton’s work has been widely published in the international literature and has been recognized by multiple international awards.
