Precious Phatudi, MD is an ophthalmologist practicing in the vibrant township of Soweto in Johannesburg, South Africa.
She is passionate about making quality eye care services accessible and affordable, especially to marginalized and underserviced communities. In pursuing the field of refractive surgery, she is determined to make these services available to the community she serves.
Dr. Phatudi completed her undergraduate training at the University of Pretoria. On completion of her internship at Dr. George Mokhtari Hospital, she received Awards of Excellence in recognition of her exceptional leadership and clinical skills and her commitment to patient care and ‘Batho pele’ (people first) principles. She completed her post-graduate training in Ophthalmology at the University of Free State where she obtained her MMED Ophthalmology. She is also a fellow of the College of Ophthalmologists of South Africa.
Dr. Phatudi is part of a non- profit, independent organization called Hope for the Blind (HFTB). This team is dedicated to improving service delivery to the visually impaired and blind people of Limpopo, a province in South Africa. HFTB will use a cross-subsidization model to serve patients across the entire socioeconomic spectrum.
Precious is married to Philip, who is also an ophthalmologist, they have three adventurous boys and love traveling together.
