Bala Ambati, MD, PhD is a specialist in cornea, cataract, & refractive surgery who trained at Harvard and Duke, and has been in practice since 2002. As part of the Moran Eye Center, he is an academic ophthalmologist in a world-class ophthalmologic institute with highly skilled and caring staff, expert colleagues in the full range of subspecialty services, and the most advanced technology.

His community and overseas service is consistent and giving: he has conducted free eye screenings in New York, Georgia, and Utah, and served as a volunteer eye surgeon with ORBIS, Sight for the Sightless, and Help Mercy International in Indonesia, Grenada, Ghana, Zambia, India, the Philippines, and Malaysia.

Dr. Ambati’s philosophy on laser vision correction and refractive surgery is to achieve optimal outcomes for each patient by delivering precision eye care by customizing the approach that is best for each individual’s goals and eye status. He feels that by putting the focus on the patient, first and always, he can champion the patient’s best interests and navigate the universe of technological options today and years to come by devoting the time needed to carefully consider each patient as a whole person, and match the appropriate strategy, whether it be LASIK, PRK, Visian ICL, Intacs, lifestyle lens implants, or waiting for solutions in development for complex situations.
