Brent Betts, MD is a board-certified ophthalmologist who specializes in medical and surgical treatment of corneal and anterior segment eye diseases. This includes expertise in all types of cornea transplantation; routine and complex cataract surgery; anterior segment reconstruction; refractive surgery including LASIK, PRK, implantable contact lenses, and refractive lens extraction.
Originally from Southern California, Dr. Betts obtained his undergraduate degree from the University of Nevada, Reno, and medical degree from Temple University School of Medicine. He finished his ophthalmology residency at Wake Forest University Eye Center, where he served as a chief resident. He completed the prestigious cornea and refractive surgery fellowship at the University of Utah’s Moran Eye Center.
Dr. Betts has published multiple peer-reviewed research articles and has presented his research at national meetings. He has a special interest in humanitarian outreach and eradicating preventable blindness in developing countries. With this mission in mind, he has traveled to Honduras and Bolivia to train local ophthalmologists in surgical techniques commonly used in the United States.
He is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the Cornea Society, and the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons.
