Professor Eskina is a leading Russian specialist in laser correction of presbyopia and the treatment of anterior segment eye diseases, and one of the foremost experts in the surgical correction of refractive anomalies. SCHWIND Eye-tech Solutions GmbH appointed Prof. Eskina as their sole reference surgeon in Russia, allowing her to train doctors on their equipment. Erika N. Eskina is also a reference specialist and consultant for Carl Zeiss Meditec.
Professor Eskina has led the Ophthalmological Clinic “Sphere” in Moscow, while also serving as a Professor at the Department of Ophthalmology at the Academy of Postgraduate Education. Her scientific interests are closely tied to her clinical work, including the study, improvement, and standardization of refractive correction methods, laser correction of presbyopia, and monitoring glaucoma progression and treatments for primary open-angle glaucoma, age-related macular degeneration, retinal diseases, and optic nerve disorders.
The practical development of her scientific interests has led to the co-authorship of four patents. Professor Eskina’s collaboration with German colleagues at SCHWIND Eye-tech Solutions GmbH significantly improved the outcomes of transepithelial photorefractive keratectomy (TransPRK). Under her guidance, “Sphere” was the first private clinic in Moscow to implement the SmartPuls, PresbyMAX, and ReLEx Smile techniques.
Professor Eskina has authored over 220 scientific works, co-authored 4 patents, and contributed a chapter to the national guide on primary open-angle glaucoma. Additionally, she co-authored eight guidance for ophthalmologists and two monographs. In 2024, she published her own monograph. She frequently participates in European and global congresses and is a member of several esteemed international professional associations of ophthalmologists, including:
