Aanchal Gupta, MBBS, MMed (Opth Sci), Grad Dip (Refract Surg), FRANZCO, FWCRS is a Consultant Ophthalmologist and a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists with a particular interest in Cataract, Corneal, and Refractive Surgery.
Dr. Gupta graduated in Medicine from Monash University in Melbourne. Following her specialty ophthalmology training in Adelaide, she undertook a Cornea and Refractive sub-specialty fellowship at the University of British Columbia, Canada under Dr. Simon Holland, Dr. David Lin, and Dr. Martin McCarthy.
She was the first surgeon in South Australia to perform Descemet stripping endothelial keratoplasty (DMEK); and Topography-guided PRK and Keraring implantation for management of Keratoconus.
Dr. Gupta is the Director of Training for the RANZCO South Australian training program in Ophthalmology, RANZCO College Councillor, and a Senior Clinical Lecturer at the University of Adelaide.
Dr. Gupta’s keen interest in refractive surgery stems from observing the very positive impact that it has on patients. She recognises that very few fields in medicine and even ophthalmology can promise the precision which refractive surgery can. It translates to high patient satisfaction for whom such results can be life-changing. She is particularly interested in customised technology such as topography-guided laser whereby not only can patients be given freedom from glasses, but in some instances, their vision can be improved beyond what they had known in glasses or contact lenses. Being able to provide state-of-art, patient-centred care is at the core of her practice.
Dr. Gupta lives in Adelaide with her husband and twin boys and loves spending quality time with the family and going on family holidays.
