Samir Jabbour, MD, CM, MPH, FRCSC, FACS, ABO is a specialized ophthalmologist with expertise in cornea, cataract, and refractive surgery. He provides care at the Centre hospitalier de l’Université de Montréal (CHUM) and the Jewish General Hospital (JGH) in Montreal, Quebec. He also holds academic appointments as an Assistant Clinical Professor at the University of Montreal and an Adjunct Clinical Professor at McGill University. As the Director of the Cornea Fellowship Program at CHUM, Dr. Jabbour is committed to training the next generation of corneal specialists.

In his role with the Vision Group, Dr. Jabbour focuses on performing refractive surgeries across Quebec and Ontario. He is proficient in a wide range of procedures, including Laser-Assisted In Situ Keratomileusis (LASIK), Photorefractive Keratectomy (PRK), refractive lens exchange (RLE), and phakic intraocular lens implantation. Dr. Jabbour performs approximately 1,000 LASIK surgeries, 1,000 cataract and lens-based procedures, and 120 corneal grafts annually. He is also highly skilled in treating keratoconus, offering advanced therapies such as corneal collagen cross-linking (CXL) and CXL combined with topography-guided photorefractive keratectomy (T-PRK).

Dr. Jabbour earned a Bachelor of Science in Physiology and a Doctor of Medicine and Master of Surgery (MDCM) from McGill University, graduating with great distinction. He completed his residency in ophthalmology at the University of Montreal, where he served as chief resident. He then pursued two years of fellowship training in cornea and refractive surgery at the prestigious Wilmer Eye Institute at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, USA, and Moorfields Eye Hospital in London, UK. Dr. Jabbour is board-certified in ophthalmology in both Canada and the United States and has further expanded his expertise by earning a Master of Public Health (MPH) degree from Harvard University, specializing in epidemiology and biostatistics.

Dr. Jabbour’s dedication to advancing ophthalmology is evident through his contributions to leading peer-reviewed journals, including Ophthalmology, American Journal of Ophthalmology, and Journal of Refractive Surgery. He has received numerous awards in recognition of his academic excellence, including honors from Harvard University, the University of Montreal, and the CHUM. Beyond his clinical and research work, Dr. Jabbour is an active member of the Board of Directors of the Canadian Ophthalmological Society and serves as an ambassador for promoting eye health awareness. He has made several appearances on radio, television, and in print media to educate the public on various ophthalmic health topics.
