Eva Kim, MD is a board-certified ophthalmologist, Uveitis and Cornea fellowship-trained, with offices in Denver, Colorado. Dr. Kim has been performing cataract surgery, refractive surgery, and uveitis since finishing her fellowship in 2006. Dr. Kim is also Medical Director and Vice President of Operations of ICON EYECARE in Denver, Colorado. Dr. Kim loves practicing ophthalmology and has felt privileged to be able to restore sight and provide excellent vision for her patients throughout her career.
Dr. Kim places a strong emphasis on connection with her patients through listening and empathy. The concept of eye surgery is frightening for many patients and it is through a strong, trusting relationship that Dr. Kim’s patients are able to feel safe and confident before, during, and after surgery. She spent over a decade as Lead Communication Consultant with Kaiser Permanente Santa Clara in an effort to help her physician colleagues succeed and improve with their patient, colleague, and staff interactions. Dr. Kim uses the latest in diagnostic and surgical technology and continues to push herself to innovate.
Dr. Kim practices refractive surgery because she feels that every patient deserves to achieve their best vision possible. She also enjoys the patient interactions with her happy refractive surgery patients. Dr. Kim enjoys being able to offer her patients a vast array of refractive surgery options such as LASIK, PRK, ICL, and CLE. In addition, keratoconus patients will often be discovered at their refractive surgery consultation, and she enjoys providing crosslinking as an option to stabilize vision.
Dr. Kim received her BS in Biological Sciences in 1996 from Stanford University. She completed medical school at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) in 2001. After completing a medical internship at Kaiser Permanente San Francisco she completed her ophthalmology residency at Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary in 2005. Finally, she completed her Uveitis and Cornea fellowship at UCSF Proctor Foundation in 2006. Dr. Kim worked as a comprehensive ophthalmologist and Uveitis Specialist from 2006-2016 at Kaiser Permanente Santa Clara. In 2016, she moved from California to Denver, Colorado, and joined Colorado Kaiser Permanente. In late 2017 she left Kaiser Permanente Colorado and joined ICON Eyecare in Denver, Colorado as a cataract/refractive surgeon/uveitis specialist and as the Front Range Medical Director. In early 2020, she became the Vice President of Operations for Front Range, Colorado region while maintaining a full clinical and surgical schedule.
Dr. Kim is married to Charles Herbert and has 3 lovely children. In her spare time, she is a Lagree fitness enthusiast, a dancer, loves live music, and loves to ski and travel with her family.
