Cody Lo, MD

Cody Lo, MD is an Ophthalmology Resident Physician at the University of Ottawa where he served as Chief Resident. He received his MD and BSc in Pharmacology from the University of British Columbia where he graduated as a Wesbrook Scholar and recipient of a Premier Undergraduate Scholarship, the University’s most prestigious designations. He has a keen interest in medical education and has held several national leadership positions in this area. He is currently the President of the Council of Canadian Ophthalmology Residents (CCOR), Resident Advisor of the Canadian Ophthalmology Student Interest Group (COSIG), and past Resident Representative for the Canadian Ophthalmological Society (COS) Practice Resource Centre Committee.

Dr. Lo has led several educational ophthalmology programs including serving as Course Co-Director for Virtual Introductory Summer Course in Ophthalmology (VISCO), the first national review course in Canada of its kind, and Co-Chair of the first ever Medical Student Symposium at the COS Annual Meeting in 2023. He is Co-Chairing the Young Ophthalmologists Symposium at the COS Annual Meeting in 2024 and 2025. He was the recipient of the 2023 University of Ottawa Department of Ophthalmology Resident Teaching Award and the 2022 Rising Star Certificate of Excellence from the Canadian Association of Medical Education.

Dr. Lo has published over 25 peer-reviewed publications with over 530 citations and a h index of 11. He has published in several high impact journals such as Ophthalmology, the Canadian Journal of Ophthalmology, Science, and the American Journal of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine. His current research interests include cataract and anterior segment surgery and tele-ophthalmology.
