Angela Mason-Triebold, OD is the co-managing optometrist at Aurora LASIK in Lacey, Washington. Dr. Triebold first became interested in optometry when she saw how different the world appeared after receiving her first pair of glasses in the third grade. She knew at that point that she wanted to do something with her life that could provide that same kind of life-changing impact for others. After shadowing a few optometrists during junior high and high school, she became fascinated with both the clinical aspects of optometry, as well as the way that the OD’s interacted with their patients and the relationships that were fostered. She later had LASIK while in optometry school. Once again, she saw how quickly a life could be changed by technology, and she knew she wanted to be involved in the field of refractive surgery.
Dr. Triebold has a warm and compassionate demeanor that puts patients instantly at ease. While she is known for her acute attention to detail, she also takes the time to ensure that patients understand everything about their eye health and answers their questions in a way that is accessible and relatable. She has never forgotten how she felt immediately after putting on that first pair of glasses, and she still marvels every day about how she can drive down the freeway without corrective lenses and still see the individual leaves on trees. Her motivation every day at work is to provide that same excitement to her patients.
Dr. Triebold is a graduate of Pacific University College of Optometry. She helped establish the Warfighter Refractive Eye Surgery Clinic at Madigan Army Medical Center at Ft. Lewis, WA in 2002. She continued to practice at Madigan for 16 years, ensuring combat vision readiness for service members who had LASIK, PRK, or ICL surgery. She also performed specialty contact lens fittings (including for keratoconus, corneal transplants, aphakia, and aniridia), and co-managed for corneal crosslinking, Intacs, and corneal transplants. During her tenure there, Dr. Triebold served as research coordinator for the refractive program and helped train ophthalmology residents and optometry externs. Dr. Triebold joined cornea/refractive specialist Dr. Jay Rudd at Aurora LASIK in 2018. She is excited about being a part of this new venture and helping the practice grow by providing state-of-the-art refractive surgery options (to include LASIK, PRK, Visian ICL, and refractive lens exchange), as well as becoming an integral part of the local community through a commitment to volunteerism and philanthropy.
