James E. Montgomery, MD

James E. Montgomery, MD is a board-certified ophthalmologist specializing in cataract and refractive surgery. He offers the latest advancements in cataract surgery in order to meet each patient’s individual expectations to suit their lifestyle. His surgical training and background also give him the unique ability to perform several types of refractive procedures, including LASIK, PRK, ICL and CLEAR for patients wanting to reduce their dependence on glasses and contact lenses. Dr. Montgomery also specializes in performing minimally invasive glaucoma surgical procedures, treatment and management of macular degeneration, diabetic eye care and diagnosis and treatment of complex eye disease.

Dr. Montgomery completed his undergraduate studies in Philosophy and Chemistry at Hendrix College in Conway, Arkansas, graduating summa cum laude. He received his medical degree from University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas, Texas where he was a member of Alpha Omega Alpha. He completed his internal medicine internship at Baylor Hospital in Dallas, Texas and returned to UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, Texas to complete his residency in ophthalmology.

Dr. Montgomery moved to Colorado in 2001 where he opened his private practice. Through building relationships, hard work and a love for his field, Dr. Montgomery has become one of the most highly regarded eye surgeons in Colorado. He currently serves as the medical director of the 20/20 Institute in Denver, Eye Surgery Center of Colorado in Westminster and the ophthalmology department of PIMA Medical Institute in Denver.
