Peter Simone, MD, PhD is a native of Kansas City, MO, but moved to Omaha, NE for medical school where he completed the MD/PhD Scholars program at the University of Nebraska Medical Center. After moving away for residency, he came back to Omaha to join ilumin as a comprehensive ophthalmologist. He completed his residency at Prisma Health in Columbia, SC. He is currently participating in the Refractive Surgery Alliance fellowship program to become an expert in refractive surgery.
Dr. Simone originally became interested in ophthalmology after seeing his father practice as an ophthalmologist. He saw the difference that was made in peoples’ lives by correcting their vision. His goal as an ophthalmologist is to provide patients with comprehensive eye care to help them achieve the best vision possible. Refractive surgery allows him to help patients achieve excellent vision without the need for glasses or contact lenses.
In addition to ophthalmology, Dr. Simone enjoys spending time with his wife, two daughters, and their dog. He is also an avid music fan and enjoys playing guitar and dabbling in a few other instruments.
