Eric Sollenberger, MD is a cornea and refractive specialist practicing in Knoxville, Tennessee. In 1952 Dr. Sollenberger’s grandfather founded the practice now known as Drs. Campbell, Cunningham, Taylor & Haun. His grandfather’s reputation was made by practicing cutting edge surgical techniques and giving the patients the highest quality care in the area. Growing up seeing his grandfather build lasting relationships through restoring vision inspired Dr. Sollenberger to follow in his footsteps.
Dr. Sollenberger continues this legacy of providing the highest quality care. He does so by spending enough time with patients to truly understand their needs, and by using the latest technology and surgical techniques to achieve the best refractive outcomes possible. His patients often remark on the thoroughness of his exams, how much time he is able to spend with each patient, an exceptional surgical experience from check in to check out, and the excellent quality of their vision after procedures.
Modern refractive surgery provides patients with a very high level of surgical precision, leading to more predictable and better outcomes. The precision and reliability of refractive procedures like LASIK and PRK, combined with the life-changing results, are what draws Dr. Sollenberger to provide refractive surgery for his patients.
Dr. Sollenberger graduated from the Cornea and External Disease Fellowship at Washington University in St. Louis in 2021, where he was awarded the Golden Apple Award for teaching. Prior to this, he completed his residency at Hamilton Eye Institute at the University of Tennessee in Memphis. He graduated medical school ranked 1st in his class and was elected to a member of Alpha Omega Alpha (AOA) honor society as 3rd year student at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis. He earned two bachelor’s degrees in Economics and Logistics & Supply Chain Management, graduating with honors from the University of Tennessee. He is currently a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, and the Tennessee Academy of Ophthalmology. He authored the Ophthalmology chapter of the Washington University Manual for Outpatient Internal Medicine, has been published in the American Journal of Ophthalmology Case Reports and Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, was awarded best posters award at the national American Academy of Ophthalmology meeting, and had a paper accepted to the World Cornea Congress.
Dr. Sollenberger now lives in Knoxville, Tennessee full time with his wife and two dogs. In his free time, he can usually be found floating down a river with a fly rod, rock climbing, backpacking, or working outside.
