Josef Stoiber, MD, PD is founder and Medical Director of Amadeus Eye Center in Salzburg, Austria. He graduated from Innsbruck Medical School and specialized as an ophthalmologist at the University Eye Clinic in Salzburg, where he also sub-specialized in cornea, cataract and refractive surgery. His expertise also includes the most advanced techniques in corneal transplantation (DALK, DMEK). In 2003 he completed a one-year research fellowship at the Ophthalmic Biophysics Center, Bascom Palmer Eye Institute, where he worked on a new type of supraDescemetic artificial cornea.
Dr. Stoiber has published numerous articles in renowned peer-reviewed journals and in 2005 he became Associate Professor of Paracelsus Medical University Salzburg. He is a member of several international ophthalmic societies, including the America Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, the European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, the German Ophthalmologic Society and the Austrian Ophthalmologic Society.
In addition to his activities at Amadeus Eye Center, Dr. Stoiber is engaged as refractive and cataract surgeon for sehkraft Augenzentrum Vienna, Austria, and the Eye Center Dr. Aus der Au in Freiburg, Switzerland. He is certified for various excimer laser (Zeiss, VISX, Allegretto) and FLACS platforms (Catalys, LensX, Ziemer) and for the latest minimal-invasive glaucoma surgery.
In his own clinic, he offers the most advanced technologies for personalized vision correction, including Femto-LASIK, Visian ICL, and Refractive Lens Exchange, using the latest innovations in the field of premium intraocular lenses. His main goal has always been to help patients to reach their full visual potential and to find the best treatment options available, using the most advanced technology available.
Outside of work, Dr. Stoiber has a passion for traveling with his wife Christine, loves Marathon running and sailing and spending time with his four children.
