Matthew Swanic, MD is the founder of the Las Vegas Eye Institute. Dr. Swanic is a native Nevadan and was born right here in Las Vegas. He takes great pride in being from this state and received his undergraduate degree from the Honors College at University of Nevada Las Vegas. He then did his medical school training at the University of Nevada School of Medicine in Reno followed by his internship in Internal Medicine at University Medical Center in Las Vegas. As Nevada as no training in eye surgery, he moved to Boston where he became a Red Sox fan while completing his Residency at Tufts School of Medicine. Finally, he desired to obtain advanced training in Refractive and Corneal surgery so he returned to the west coast where he completed a fellowship in Cornea, Refractive, and Uveitis at UCLA’s Jules Stein Eye Institute.
Patients at Las Vegas Eye Institute can expect to be treated as individuals. Dr. Swanic is not a high volume LASIK surgeon who performs countless cases in an operative day. He instead focuses on customizing his treatments to the individual and taking his time performing and planning his cases. All patients see him both pre and postoperatively. Our facility is equipped with the most advanced preoperative testing equipment.
Dr. Swanic loves performing Refractive surgery and that is the main reason he performs it. He had PRK performed on his own eyes during his residency and loves being spectacle independent. The ability to bring the ability to swim, workout, and just perform daily tasks without worrying about glasses falling off his face and contacts falling out is an amazing feeling that he loves bringing to his patients.
