L. Felipe Vejarano, MD is the first of five children to Alberto Vejarano, MD, an Ophthalmologist at Clinica Barraquer in Barcelona. The entire Vejarano family works in the field of medicine – Dr. Verjarano and his brother, like their father, are Ophthalmologist, a
sister is a Bacteriologist, while two others siblings are Odontologists.
Dr. Vejarano is a founding member of the Fundación Oftalmológica Vejarano, which he founded with his father in 1999. The Fundación Oftalmológica Vejarano provides ophthalmic social services for the people of Colombia, offering 21-century procedures at affordable prices. Revenues from the Fundación provide housing to a poor people in Colombia, with three houses already delivered, with one additional house be given each year, going forward.
Staff at the Fundación Oftalmológica Vejarano have a slogan they call “VEJARANO`S IDEOLOGY” – Always provide good care to the patient and always be mindful of patient safety. Through the innovations in refractive surgery, Dr. Vejarano is able to provide the best quality of life available for his patients.
Dr. Vejarano studied Medicine at the Universidad del Cauca in Popayán, Colombia, the city where he was born and went on to study Ophthalmology at the Fundación Oftalmológica de Santander in Bucaramanga, Colombia. He later completed made his subspecialty studies at the Fundación Oftalmológica Nacional in Bogotá, Colombia, after which he completed an Observer Fellowship at the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute in Miami, Florida.
