Michael Wei, MBChB, BMedSc(Hons I), BHB, MMed(Ophthal Sci), FRANZCO, is a comprehensive ophthalmic surgeon with an interest in cataract and refractive surgery and retinal conditions.
Dr Wei is committed to provide highest quality of care and to achieve the best possible vision for each individual, utilising the latest surgical techniques and the most advanced state-of-the-art laser technologies.
Dr Wei obtained his medical degree at The University of Auckland, New Zealand. This was followed by a Masters of Ophthalmic Science at The University of Sydney. He then undertook specialist ophthalmology training with The Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists (RANZCO) at The Sydney Eye Hospital Network and received further training as a senior registrar at The Royal North Shore Hospital. This was followed by two further subspecialty fellowships, in medical retina at Westmead Hospital in Australia and in vitreoretinal surgery at St Michael’s Hospital, University of Toronto, in Toronto Canada.
Dr Wei has publications in multiple highly regarded, international peer-reviewed journals and has presented his research on the international stage.
Dr Wei also values developing the next generation of medical practitioners. He has held several clinical teaching roles in prominent hospitals and universities, and he actively provides training and teaching to family doctors, optometrists, medical students, and ophthalmology trainees.
Outside work, Dr Wei enjoys playing tennis and spending time with his family.
