Jordan Winegar, MD is an active-duty Army ophthalmologist in charge of the refractive surgery program practicing out of Fort Carson, Colorado, and has been there since completing internship and residency including being chief resident at Walter Reed Nation Military Medical Center in 2022. He graduated from medical school in 2018 at Saint Louis University. Before that, he worked briefly as a chemical engineer after graduating cum laude from Brigham Young University.
Patients can expect professional expertise in the latest technology, a calm demeanor, honesty, and attention to detail.
He has loved doing refractive surgery since 2nd year of residency. In the military, residents are trained early to be able to accomplish refractive surgery with cataracts, corneal refractive surgery, ICLs, and stabilizing vision with crosslinking independently. He enjoys learning ways to help make these procedures safer and more effective to help active duty service members, retirees, and their families enjoy the best vision possible.
Dr. Winegar is currently the chief of the Warfighter Refractive Eye Surgery Program and Evans Army Community Hospital. His interests include anterior segment surgery such as cataract and glaucoma surgery, and refractive surgery including LASIK, PRK, and ICL surgery.
He grew up in many places but spent his high school years in Utah. When not performing surgery, Dr Winegar enjoys being outdoors, climbing, playing soccer, and working in the yard with his family. He speaks Spanish and Italian to his children and loves building things with them.
